INFORMATION

Why Sunbrella?

Sunbrella is chosen due to its high quality fabrics – and because Ocean Chills must live up to the highest standards in both durability, quality and finish.

Sunbrella is known for its exceptional colourfastness, long lifespan, and resistance to sunlight, wear, and moisture. The fabric is solution-dyed deep into the fibre, which means the colours last significantly longer than with conventional textiles.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

This is an independent health certification for textiles.
It means that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and is safe to have close to the body.

With OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, all components are tested:
• the fabric itself
• threads and seams
• prints, dyes, and coatings
• buttons, zippers, etc.

It is tested for, among other things:
• carcinogenic and allergenic substances
• heavy metals
• pesticides
• formaldehyde
• banned azo dyes

GREENGUARD Gold

The fabric has been tested for how much it emits into the air when used indoors – and it emits extremely low levels.
• The fabric releases very low amounts of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), including:
o chemicals from dyeing
o surface treatments
o impregnation
o binders or coatings

• Emissions are so low that the fabric is approved for very sensitive environments (schools, childcare facilities, hospitals).

Gold = the strictest certification level
GREENGUARD Gold has tightened limit values that take into account:
• children
• smaller rooms
• long-term occupancy

Warranty – mass-dyed colours

The manufacturer guarantees that the colour is solution-dyed and will remain durable for many years without abnormal fading.
This means that the fibres are dyed all the way through before the fabric is spun or woven (rather than being surface-dyed).

The manufacturer provides a colourfastness warranty, typically meaning that:
• the colour lasts significantly longer than traditionally dyed fabrics
• the fabric has exceptional lightfastness
• the colour remains stable when exposed to:
o sunlight / UV
o washing
o cleaning
o daily use

REACH compliance

These are EU regulations designed to ensure that products do not contain harmful chemicals in illegal amounts.
The material contains no prohibited chemicals according to EU regulations.
• Substances of concern (e.g. certain dyes, heavy metals, phthalates) are below the permitted limit values
• The material may be legally sold within the EU.

5 years limited warranty

This means that the manufacturer provides a 5-year limited warranty on the product.
• The warranty is valid for 5 years from the date of purchase
• It only covers specific defects, typically:
o manufacturing defects
o material defects
o defects occurring under normal use
